Preparation Time: 05 min

Total Time: 07 min
- 3.5 cups of quick cooking organic oats or large flake
- 1 cup fresh dairy butter
- 1 cup G&J Honey
- 1 tbsp freshly grated orange zest
- 1/8 tbsp sea salt
Melt butter, G&J Honey and orange zest in large pan, over medium heat, to create syrup. Simmer for a few minutes (2 or 3 minutes) to release the orange flavour from the zest. Remove from heat and stir in oats, mix well. Line 9 x 12 glass baking dish with parchment paper, tip oat mixture into it and fork over lightly to spread.
Bake at 325 F for 20 to 25 minutes on middle rack until deep golden brown.
Let cool. Lift parchment to board and slice. Good keeper - but it never gets a chance to sit around because it is so yummy! Excellent for kid's lunches, hiking and picnic baskets.
Can also add dried cranberries, raisins, chopped nuts and sunflower or pumpkin seeds. Use your imagination and make this recipe your own.
After trying each variation, my family votes for the original version overtime. We think that is because of the full flavour that comes from using BeeMaid honey. When cooked, it has a caramel, almost butterscotch flavour. The orange zest brings out the floral notes in the honey and all in all, it is hard to beat such an easy recipe. When each ingredient is of the highest quality, then the end result is simply outstanding.
